Miss Mary-Kate Segura

My name is Mary-Kate Segura and I have had the privilege of teaching 4th grade at E.K. Key for five years. In the past I have taught math, science, and social studies for our fourth grade students. I am looking forward to teaching both 4th and 5th grade social studies this year.

In my classroom, I hold my students to high expectations because I firmly believe in their abilities. I see every challenge as an opportunity for growth and foster a growth mindset within my students. With determination and perseverance, there is no limit to what they can achieve. I am committed to providing a supportive and encouraging atmosphere where they feel safe to take risks and embrace the learning process.

Social Studies is a captivating subject that allows us to explore the rich tapestry of human history, cultures, and societies. It enables us to make connections between the past and the present, helping us become informed and responsible citizens of the world. I am passionate about igniting this curiosity in my students and guiding them to become critical thinkers who understand the significance of their roles in shaping the future.

In my classroom, building strong relationships is at the core of our success. I encourage open communication, active listening, and mutual respect. By getting to know each student personally, I can better understand their interests, strengths, and challenges, allowing me to tailor my teaching to meet their individual needs effectively.

I firmly believe that a successful education requires a partnership between teachers, parents, and students. I welcome open dialogue and encourage parents to be actively involved in their child's educational journey. Together, we can ensure that every student receives the support they need to thrive academically and socially. If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything related to your child's education, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

This is going to be a fantastic year!
